Galaxy Fold 2 delayed, not expected at Samsung Unpacked in August

Samsung is holding one of its Unpacked product launch events on August 5, but the new Galaxy Fold 2 will reportedly not be attending.
Instead, it looks like the Unpacked event, which will take place entirely online for the first time on August 5 due to the coronavirus pandemic, will feature a new Note smartphone, a 5G version of the folding Galaxy Z Flip, and potentially a new Samsung smartwatch.

Claims of the Fold 2 being delayed come from Max Weinbach, who has a good track record for smartphone news, and tweeted about the phone over the weekend. Instead of being revealed in August, Weinbach believes the Fold 2 will arrive sometime in early October, given the schedules carriers keep to when new smartphones are developed.
Weinbach said: "Fold 2 isn't happening at Unpacked. This is absolutely no surprise. The software isn't even close to ready for a September launch and there is very few mentions of anything hardware wise. It's likely been delayed a bunch and that's why."
The Galaxy Fold has been a difficult product for Samsung to get right. First announced in February 2019, the phone was delayed and sent back to the drawing board after the first examples broke in the hands of journalists who were loaned them for review. The phone finally went on sale in September, complete with a revised hinge mechanism and screen protector.

It was then reported in May of this year that the second-generation Fold 2 had entered production and would be revealed in August. But now this seems unlikely.
Weinbach added: "My guess is we'll get a teaser at the end [of Unpacked on August 5] with the date of like a September launch." He went on to explain that he has only just started to see evidence of the Fold 2 being tested by carriers, which normally happens a couple of months before a new phone is released.
Instead it looks like the Unpacked event on August 5 will focus on the new Galaxy Note 20, which has already leaked on Samsung's own websites, and a new 5G version of the Galaxy Z Flip folding phone. A new Galaxy Watch wearable is also expected, and who knows, we might finally see the Galaxy Home, the smart speaker that was announced way back in August 2018 but hasn't yet gone on sale.
