Rachio, known for its smart sprinkler systems, is moving beyond just watering your lawn with its new Rachio Thrive, an entire system that will address the needs your specific yard and smart home may require.

The new plan is launching with its first product, Lawn Champion, a mix of food for lawns that Rachio says include micro algae and nutrients, so that a lawn gets exactly the food it requires. Rachio is also keeping an eye on waste or run-off, by focusing on the nutrients a lawn may need at the root level, to help ward off the effects of drought, it said.

Rachio designs smart sprinklers along with water flow meters, including the Rachio 3 Wireless Flow Meter and the Rachio 3 Smart Sprinkler Controller, both of which can work together to shut down water if the system detects flooding or potential damage to a garden.

Rachio's hallmark product, its connected sprinkler controllers, taps into weather reports to design the watering plan correct for a lawn in a specific zone and area.

That personalization is coming now to Rachio's new program Rachio Thrive. The company will recommend the amount of Lawn Champion each yard will need based not only on its size but also the climate. People will get a full year of Lawn Champion when they buy the kit, plus a customized schedule for their lawn. Ideally, Rachio hopes customers will use the new system with Rachio's smart sprinkler controller, and a new tab called, Thrive, will now be in the Rachio app, guiding people on when to apply the formula.
