Monoprice’s new SYNC-ANC over-the-ear headphones bring high quality sound to your ears at an attractive price.
GearBrain has been testing a lot of different headphones the past few months and we are amazed on how many good quality devices we are seeing at attractive price points. To us an attractive price point for a good quality headphone is sub $100. Recently we were sent a wireless Bluetooth over-the-ear headphone with active noise cancelling to test. After a few months, we were pleasantly impressed with these headphone’s performance and want to share them with you. Let me introduce to you Monoprice’s SYNC-ANC Wireless Bluetooth ANC Headphones.

What are Monoprice’s SYNC-ANC Headphones?
Monoprice SYNC-ANC Headphones are wireless Bluetooth over the ear headphones. They connect to your mobile devices via a Bluetooth 5.0 wireless connection and have Hybrid Active Noise Cancelling that works on either a wired or wireless connection. These headphones also support AAC, SBC, Qualcomm aptX and Qualcomm aptX low latency audio codecs. And for those phones calls you make with the headphones on, Monoprice SYNC-ANC has Qualcomm cVc Echo Cancelling and Noise Suppression to ensure quality and noise free phone calls.
The Monoprice SYNC-ANC Headphones also come with excellent battery life. Users can get up to 20 hours of audio playback/talk time for uninterrupted calls on a single charge. And the headphones have multipoint paring which makes it easy for users to switch between media sources.
How do you set these headphones up?
Setting up your Monoprice SYNC-ANC Bluetooth headphones is quite easy. Just unbox them and charge them using the supplied power cord. Once charged, you can pair them via Bluetooth connection to a compatible mobile device. It’s that simple.
For those of you who would like to control the sound mix, you will not be able to do so with these headphones. There is not app to adjust the levels or mix. But based on our testing, you really don’t have to adjust them since the sound is rather good at the start.

So, what makes these over-the-ear headphones so special?
After testing these headphones for the past few months, we found several features that stood out for us. First was the sound quality. When you put on a pair of over-the-ear headphones, you get a more immersive sound quality versus earbuds or in-earphones. With SYNC-ANC headphones, you get a nice immersive sound to start but when you turn on the ANC, you can hear the change in sound quality. Everything becomes clearer and distinct. It does help that these headphones come with Qualcomm aptX Low Latency codec. This software helps the headphones remove any lag from the audio source when playing video game or watching a movie.
Another noticeable feature we liked about the Monoprice SYNC-ANC headphones is the Bluetooth range. We were able to go from one room to another and still have a connection with our audio source in the other room. These Bluetooth headphones have a 32 foot or 10-meter range which is a nice size, especially if you like to get up and move around while on the phone.
And the last best feature of these headphones is the price. The Monoprice SYNC-ANC Bluetooth Headphones with ANC cost only $59.99 and are available on company website. Based on our testing of over the ear wireless headphones, these headphones sound as good as other high-priced headphones but were a third of the price. For instance, we tested Skullcandy Crusher ANC Bluetooth Headphones which cost $320 and the Monoprice SYNC-ANC was able to hold its own again these over-the-ear headphones. Though Skullcandy Crusher ANC has other key features like the ability to customize your sound, the Monoprice headphones have a similar sound for a third of the price.
What would we like to see improved?
One item we would like to see Monoprice address is the charging port. The SYNC-ANC headphones use a micro-USB connection and not a USB Type-C connection. More manufacturers of headphones are moving to USB Type-C connections, and it would be nice to have these headphones on the same type of connection.
Another nice feature to add would be a carrying case. Many headphones manufacturers are offering travel cases as add-ons or accessories for you to buy. Though the SYNC-ANC headphones seem to be rather sturdy, it would be nice to have a nice travel pack to put them in when not in use or when you’re traveling.

Summary
If you are in the market for a good reliable Bluetooth wireless over-the-ear headphones with active noise cancelling, good battery life and don’t want to pay more than $100, Monoprice SYNC-ANC Bluetooth Headphones are the ones for you. They are lightweight, have a great sound and easy switching between sounds. Though you can’t control the mix and need to use a Micro-USB connection to charge the headphones, these are a respectable pair of headphones at an outstanding price.
