Press Release
Earlier this year, GearBrain tested Verizon's new OBD2 device, HumX and like several of its features, including the Mechanic Hotline and the in-depth look it provided of the car's diagnostics. Today, Hum by Verizon announced more new features to the HumX, which will continue to help keep drivers safe while driving around this holiday season. The new features have been designed to help keep drivers informed on their car's health and whereabouts. Also, one new feature enables all drivers to see how well they are driving when compared to the other drivers of the car with Hum by Verizon.
As of Monday, Nov. 20, Hum service will now include:
The HumX premium hardware package contains a 4G LTE OBD-II reader and a stainless-steel Bluetooth speaker that clips to a car's visor. The speaker serves as a communications hub, and with just a touch of a button, drivers can connect to Hum customer support functions such as roadside assistance, mechanics hotline and emergency assistance. The HumX Wi-Fi hot spot capability allows up to 10 devices to stream content over the nation's largest & most reliable 4G LTE network.
The standard Hum offering, Hum+, includes the core set of Hum features like roadside assistance, auto health and diagnostics, driving history, boundary and speed alerts, and vehicle location. Customers now have the option of purchasing Hum+ without a two-year contract at thousands of major retail outlets, or online at www.hum.com.
"Everyone on your holiday list can get something out of the new Hum features," said Michael Maddux, director of product at Verizon Telematics. "New teen drivers can create some friendly competition with the safety score leaderboard, and service schedule reminders benefit those who will resolve to be more organized in the New Year. Hum can help provide a safer and more connected experience on the road during the peak holiday travel season and beyond."
The Hum app can be downloaded from Google Play and the App Store for both current and new customers, and gives drivers access to some of Hum's basic features, as well as access to a wide range of retail, dining, service and travel discounts.
Hum is compatible with more than 150 million passenger vehicles, 1996 and newer on the road today. For pricing and information, and to check vehicle compatibility, please visit a Verizon Wireless retail store or www.hum.com.
HumX is only available via Verizon Wireless; HumX service operates on 4G LTE network only and requires data usage. Not all products are available in all areas. Pinpoint roadside assistance provided by Signature Motor Club, Inc., up to 4 events per year. Many services require GPS service and/or network availability, not available in all locations. Not all incidents or problems will be detected.
If looking for a OBD2 device which offers roadside assistance, insights into your car's health and diagnostics, keeps track of all drivers' history, provides alerts when your car goes where it's not supposed to go or travels at high speeds, then HumX by Verizon is a device you need to consider. It's also a very good device if you are an existing Verizon customer and own a vehicle that doesn't have Bluetooth or GPS. These new features by Verizon are good and will continue to help keep drivers safe as well as provide parents of teenage drivers a little peace of mind when their kids are out driving.
