The August View has a new slim design, tall and lean enough to fit into more doorways. The device, though, still makes use of August's technology — allowing users to see who is at their doorbell, speak, and if paired with an August Lock, even open the door — all right through the August app.

The new doorbell, priced at $229.99, is built differently — in dimensions — from some of August's previous devices, such as the August Doorbell Cam Pro. While August smart doorbells have been traditionally square, the new August View is now rectangular and slim — and wireless. The new look makes it possible to attach the doorbell to more doorways.

The August View also includes an image sensor, with a 1440p resolution — this allows the device to deliver video imagery with 33 percent more pixels than traditional 1080p HD to a customer's phone, said the company. The faceplate for the device will also come in multiple colors and materials so they can be paired to someone's front door and color scheme — four that are metal in satin nickel, oil-rubbed bronze, satin brass and midnight gray, and four in colors including black, white, red and blue.

Installation is meant to be simple, and August said customers will have everything they need in the box including a Micro-USB cable, rechargeable battery, wireless chime and the August View doorbell.

Customers can also continue to store video in the August Cloud, receive instant alerts when someone is at the doorstep, view live video and zoom through the video to identify specific packages.

"With the new August View, we're providing an advanced secure solution that is high-performing, highly customizable and offers features that our customers have been asking for."

The August View will go on sale on March 28 on August's web site and at some retailers.
