Black Eyed Peas' will.i.am buys Wink
Boom Boom Wink Black Eyed Peas frontman will.i.am has been dabbling in tech lately, with the latest now including smart home company Wink. The hub platform, however, has no intention of shutting down. Most recently the company announced its integration with August Smart Locks, and Wink says users should still expect to see new in-app features and other integrations in the future, even with a new owner.
"In the meantime, please know your Wink app and Wink Hub will continue to operate just as they have," said Wink in a statement. "The acquisition doesn't change anything with regards to the Wink user experience."
Wink will be the first smart home play for i.am+ which other products include $200 Bluetooth headphones called Buttons, and a smartwatch tagged Dial, the latter which was poorly reviewed and doesn't appear to be for sale on its site any longer. The synergy between i.am+ and Wink isn't immediately clear, but the company says it will update users during the transition through its blog.
