Smile, You're On Snapchat
Snapchat Snapbots Snapchat's Spectacles hit the streets yesterday in bright yellow vending machines. Yes, the only way to buy the $130 video goggles is through an automat. The glasses allow wearers to record 10-second clips just by touching a button on the frame, which then are uploaded into Snapchat's Memories. (And yes, they can record anything, and anyone, they see.) The device works with iPhones running iOS 8 and + along with Android devices running 4.3. But of course, first, you have to get a pair. And apparently the only machine spitting these things out is in Venice, Ca. Snapchat promises to update where the machine will go to next on its map. (Yes, the machine will travel.) But in the meantime, you can pick up a pair for $900 on eBay, like this set of glasses pictured above.
Daydream View In what proved to be a big day in head gear, Google also launched its $79 Daydream View headset. The device is similar to Samsung Gear VR in that you slide in a smartphone which actually runs the content you want to watch. But unlike Gear VR of Google Cardboard headsets, early reviewers say View is particularly comfortable. Of course, you can only use the device with Pixel smartphones. So iOS users (and other Android owners)—borrow a friend's.
IoT Shark Tank Toor smart lockbox has made its way on Shark Tank, for 9 pm ET tonight. The device operates the way a smart lock would, but allows home owners or relators to open up a home via app—even to unaccompanied buyer. Would real estate agents use this? Many probably would prefer to be there to show a listing. But the founders are likely to be hit with just these questions by the Sharks tonight.
iPhone News Apple will not update its iPhone SE next year, according to MacRumors. The company reportedly believes the cheaper, smaller version of its popular smartphone is doing well enough and doesn't need sprucing any time soon.
