Samsung phones are reportedly texting photos to other people on their own

As if Alexa recording your conversations aren't enough, now some are saying their Samsung phones are sending the entire contents of their photo album to random people on their contact list. Reddit users took to the site to complain about the situation as couples found their photo had been sent through text — but without any sign of a message coming from their phone.

The issue appears to be related to Samsung Messages, according to Gizmodo which first wrote about the problem, although one Reddit user reported that Hangouts had triggered the action as well.

Photos apparently were sent at random, in some cases just one photo went out, in other cases an entire photo library. (That went out to the other person's husband, but still…)

While most of the issues reported on Reddit were from people using T-Mobile, one person also said the same photo bug hit them on their AT&T phone.

Samsung is still well-known for its Galaxy Note 7, and the smartphone exploding on its own. That concern prompted airlines around the world to ban the device on its flights. Samsung replaced the device, but when the phones continued to explode, the company completely recalled them.

Samsung told GearBrain that it is investigating the complaints about the reported photo leaks.

"We are aware of the reports regarding this matter and our technical teams are looking into it. Concerned customers are encouraged to contact us directly at 1-800-SAMSUNG."

In the meantime, Reddit users appear to turning off access to storage for the Samsung Messages feature. Do an audit of what's stored in your photo gallery is never a bad idea either.
