Ring, a product line which includes video doorbells, motion sensors and security cameras, is popular among home owners as devices consumers can install and monitor themselves. But the company is now offering a service that can be bundled up or down depending on what a company may need.
The Ring Alarm system notifies a user through the Ring App when it detects something in its sensor, motion detector or any part of the alarm. Business owners can then determine if something is minor, or something more serious. They can choose to contact 911 on their own, or can opt into 24/7 professional monitoring.
Amazon purchased Ring in 2018 for $1 billion, and is now integrating the security device into more of its own services. For example, Ring can be used with Key by Amazon, allowing business owners to lock and unlock smart locks right from the Ring Doorbell and also the Ring Cam, when they're in Live View.
The three different packages include the 9-piece Business Starter Kit, which includes the Ring Base Station, the Ring Alarm Keypad, three contact sensors, one motion detector, one range extender, one panic button and one stick up cam wired. The 10-piece Premium Business Kit, priced at $525, also includes the Video Doorbell 2, and the 11-piece Enhanced Business Kit, priced at $675, also includes the Spotlight Cam Wired.
The Ring for Business service starts at just $10 a month, which includes 60-day video event recording 24/7, for as many cameras as someone has in their location. There's also a LTE Cellular backup which keeps the monitoring going even if power or broadband goes out at their business.
"One in 4 small businesses are impacted by burglary or theft," said Jamie Siminoff, Ring's founder and chief inventor in a statement. "As an entrepreneur, I know firsthand that business owners put everything they have into their work, and it's important to protect that. Traditional commercial security options are often rigid, expensive and difficult to install. Because of this, we noticed some businesses using our devices to monitor and protect their properties. Developing Ring for Business, a more affordable and straightforward security option for companies, was a natural next step in our mission to make neighborhoods safer - both at home and at work."
