Google has new product announcements, and will announce them in May
Google has new smart home products planned around its A.I. Google Assistant. And as the voice assistant celebrates its 5th birthday this year, Google is going to have some new smart home products where the A.I. will presumably live.
Google teased the new devices in its blog today, about "new product announcements" planned for Google I/O, its developers conferences scheduled for May 18-20. There will be new details about Google Assistant at the event as well, from updates to some features, changes and even how the Assistant has morphed in the past year.
The event in May is a three-day showcase designed for developers, those people who craft and create the experiences and apps that use Google and Google Assistant with consumer facing tools and devices. There are multiple sessions aimed just as these people — and through them others can see how and where Google is emphasizing its own products.
One session will be tailored to helping developers use Android Shortcuts with Google Assistant, another is on tapping into Google Assistant's Conversational Actions, which plays up the A.I.'s ability to talk with people in a more natural fashion. There is also a session specifically focused on how to use more voice abilities in their Android apps as well.

Smart Home
Google traditionally has used the annual developer's conference to release new products as it did in 2019 when it launched the Nest Hub Max. In addition to new smart home products and new Google Assistant features planned for May, the company is also going to be helping developers work out some the issues with their own smart home products.
This year developers will have a code lab, a space where they can work on their products in terms of how well they integrate with the Google smart home. There will also be a Meet with Google smart home engineers on how developers can create and even fix some of their own integrations with Google Home.
