Apple iPhone 8 may be delayed
iPhone 8 delay Although Apple is rumored to be putting the iPhone 8 on sale this fall, buyers may not get their hands on the newest Apple smartphone for several weeks. So says a Drexel Hamilton research report via MacRumors which notes that while the iPhone should be delivered by the winter holidays, consumers (and investors) should expect a delay of "several weeks due to challenges around the 3D sensing technology..." This 3D technology refers to abilities including facial and iris recognition—being able to identify a user through biometrics that don't come into immediate contact with the phone, like a fingerprint, but can be read, and interpreted from a distance.
Apple has yet to make any announcement about an upcoming iPhone. However, a new order for 70 million OLED screens is helping to cement expectations that an iPhone 8 will be debuted this year, which also marks the 10th anniversary of one of Apple's most famous products.

As with any patent, there is no guarantee that the technology will ever be developed, or the robot ever built. Now we may never know what it's like to hug a giant marshmallow.
