Switch master iDevices now works with IFTTT

Smart product maker iDevices, which produces the switches, smart plugs and thermostats that connect and operate many of our home's smart products, is now compatible with IFTTT, a free service that lets people craft mini programs or Applets that link actions and devices together.

The new integration launches today, Tuesday December 4th and adds to the ways people can control their iDevice products including light switches, smart plugs with energy monitoring and even smart thermostats.

Owners can already tap into Siri, Alexa and Google Assistant to operate their iDevice gadgets, asking their voice assistant to turn off lights plugged into a smart plug, or bring up the heat in a home. IFTTT widens the control options, linking iDevice gadgets to hundreds of other apps and services, the company said.

Smart home gadgets usually link into iDevices gadgets by being plugged into their gadgets, sockets and smart plugs which also communicate over Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. Some of iDevices products are meant to be standalone, like its light switch Instinct, which launched at CES in 2018, and has to be released, but is designed with Amazon Alexa built-in, pulsing with a blue light to know when the smart assistant is listening or not. The switch will also include motion detection, and a speaker built inside so people can play music through the switch.

"Setting up IFTTT for iDevices is simple – just enable the IFTTT service in the iDevices Connected app, then use IFTTT to control iDevices products and create custom automations," said the company.

Pre-made Applets are also available on iDevices site as well.
