Google Assistant adds three new Spanish dialects
Google Assistant just got three new Spanish dialects from the U.S., Mexico and Spain. While the smart assistant already speaks Spanish, these additions will fine-tune the language spoken through the smart home speaker.
Enabling them is as simple as opening the Google Home app. Under Assistant language are now three new settings that read: "Español (España), Español (México), and Español (EE.UU.).
Google Assistant is the voice smart assistant that runs Google's line of smart speakers — including the Google Home, Google Home Mini and Google Home Max. The devices compete directly with the Amazon Echo line of smart speakers and Apple's HomePod, with Google Assistant similar Amazon's Alexa and Apple's Siri.
Smart speakers are growing in popularity, with the smaller versions of the Amazon Echo and Google Home starting at just $40. Google Assistant not only brings up basic information, like weather and news, but can be used to operate smart devices, make calls and even launch games.
Google Assistant will now speak and recognize commands in the three new Spanish dialects. With the support for these dialects, signs now point to the Google Home speakers going on sale in both Spain and Mexico.
