Apple watchOS 6.2.5 update includes new Pride watch faces

Apple's latest watchOS just dropped — watchOS 6.2.5 — which can be downloaded now for the Apple Watch Series 1 and up. With it are new Pride Apple Watch faces for 2020. The faces are rainbow in nature, and dynamic — as you touch them, they undulate, waving as would a flag. The faces also ripple when you lift your hand and the Watch turns on. One face, called Pride Analog, also changes colors on its outer ring every few seconds, rotating through the colors of the rainbow.

The new update also bring the ECG feature and irregular heart rhythm notification features to Saudi Arabia this week. These features have been available in more than 20 countries and territories including the U.S. since 2019, with the launch of the Apple Watch 4. With the tool, wearers can take an electrocardiogram of their heart by touching the digital crown of the Apple Watch with an index finger while the device is on the wrist.

The last time Apple update watchOS was on April 20, 2020. This update for May is one month before National Pride Day. While Apple didn't announce the new watch faces, you can find the new Pride Watch faces in the Apple Watch app under Face Gallery. Scrolling down, under Pride, you can find the faces from 2018 and 2019 still available, and supported. But swipe through and you'll find the new faces for 2020.

To download the new update:

  • Go into your iPhone and open the Watch app.
  • Click on My Watch
  • Click on General
  • Click on Software Update

You'll be able to install the update from here.

Note that your Watch needs to have at least 50 percent power still on it to download, or be attached to its power cord. You also need to be within Wi-Fi range of your iPhone, and have iOS 13 downloaded on your iPhone as well.
