Apple iPhone 8 to get announced in September

iPhone 8 confirmed It's no longer a rumor — if KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo can be believed. Apple Insider got hold of Kuo's research note, which states that Apple will announce the long-awaited iPhone 8 next month in September. The problem is very few of them will be made at launch: reportedly only between two and four million. While short supply is usually good for creating buzz and hype, the scarcity in this case may not be. Apple took four million pre-orders in the first 24 hours after the announcement of the iPhone 6.

Kuo believes, though, that while production will start slowly, eventually Apple will produce between 45 and 50 million of the iPhone 8 this year. The device is also expected to support fast charging. But note: that may cost extra.

Additional features are still part of the rumor mill: facial recognition technology, OLED edge-to-edge screen, and the disappearance of the home button. Apple has not confirmed those details — nor the existence of the iPhone 8, despite Kuo's note. Mid-September is when everyone will learn more, including just how much this new iPhone will cost. Tip: Start skipping the expensive coffee now.
