Your iPhone SE Costs $160...To Make
iPhone SE Costs $160. That $399 price tag on the Apple iPhone SE? More than a 250 percent mark-up. Research firm IHS did a teardown—itemizing what each of the pieces actually cost in Apple's latest smartphone—and found the price, including manufacturing, to be $160. IHS found that the iPhone SE includes parts from other iPhones, including the iPhone 5s, iPhone 6 and iPhone 6s.
Tesla's Tax Credit. Need another incentive to put your name (and $1,000) down for a Tesla 3? Let's not forget the $7,500 federal tax credit to the buyers of the first 200,000 cars sold. (From there the tax credit goes down slowly to zero.)
Revolv Hub Getting Bricked. Nest is pulling the plug on support of the $300 Revolv Hub starting May 15. Nest (owned by Alphabet) bought Revolv in 2014, and supported the Hub as the smart home device maker built out its own line, Works with Nest. For Revolv owners, no: That doesn't mean you should expect a refund.
Your Real Cost For The Internet. The Federal Communication Commission is pushing new labels for broadband and mobile Internet service—and they look a lot like what you see on a carton of milk. Details include what the monthly charge is per GB, and all those fees we can never understand. Are the labels required? Hardly. But they're recommended.
iPhone Hack. Again. Your photos and contacts may not be as secure as you think if you have iOS 9.3.1 on your iPhone 6s and 6s Plus. A new vulnerability lets someone hack your smartphone without entering your passcode by taking advantage of the "Hey, Siri" tool and accessing Twitter. Want to know how to lock the gates back up again? MacRumors has the details.
