Amazon Drone Delivery: It's a Real Thing
Amazon Drone Amazon delivered its first order via drone in the United Kingdom. The package? A bag of popcorn and (of course) an Amazon Fire TV. The entire delivery took 13 minutes from order to arrival just outside Cambridge in the United Kingdom (UK). Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos proudly tweeted about the delivery. This is part of Amazon's Prime Air service—one it hopes will shrink time for deliveries by using drones to get items faster to consumers. Just two customers in the UK have been part of the new drone delivery service. More are expected to follow—including, eventually, those in the U.S.
Yahoo Data Yahoo says a new data breach has compromised information on more than 150,000 U.S. government and military employees. Passwords, telephone numbers, birth dates and other details were taken says the beleaguered tech giant. The $199 early bird price is still available. But of course no word if the device works. As Kickstarter investors can tell you, waiting for the your investment to turn into a device in your hand can be a long wait.
Sports VR Is Big Bucks Strivr, a virtual reality training program for athletes, has hit the big leagues, raising $5 million in funding. While VR has captured the interest of consumers, sports teams from professional organizations to those at the college level, are starting to adopt the virtual technology to help their players train differently. Strivr reportedly will use the money to help expand beyond the more than 25 football, basketball and hockey teams who currently use the technology. (Via SportTechie)
