Awesome all in one security system with smart features.

Awesome all in one security system with smart features.
We bought this system to replace an old security system that was installed in our house when the house was built. The old system worked but did not have smart features so we were looking for a system that integrated with Alexa and also allowed us to use our phones to arm and disarm the system as well as set schedules and have different pins for users. This system did all those things and included all the sensors and motion detectors we needed for our home. I was also able to use the existing 5816 Honewell sensors as well as the 5800 PIR motion sensors that we already had in place in our home so this made a huge difference for me because the magnets are already built-in to the doors. I only had to add new sensors to the doors that didn't previously have them. This system was so easy to install and I was able to remove my old keypad and install this in it's place and run the power cable through the wall to create a clean mounting look. The lifeshield tablet that was previously included in this system is being discontinued as I was told by the customer service agent when I called since you can do all the same things on your phone or existing tablet. The system works with Alexa as well as IFTTT and other services and I created a rule that has Alexa announce what door is opened. The only issue is it has a bit of a delay compared to the chime. The features I would like to see is the ability to silence the chime on the homebase during a certain schedule but at this point you can only enable or disable that chime. It would also be nice to be able to customize the chime sound and raise and lower the volume through the app.The included camera is the only negative comment I have about the system but I did not buy this system for the camera as I already have a security camera system in place. I have heard the newer cameras are excellent though compared to the old ones. Overall I am extremely happy with the system and would recommend it for people who need a smart security system with the ability to self-monitor or have a subscription from ADT.

Easy install. Working perfectly. Software also works flawlessly.

2 year update. Still works great. I did have one notion sensor stop working about 1 1/2yrs after the install but every thing else is working flawlessly. Also have had only 2 batteries go dead (both are the high traffic area. One at the front door and the living room motion) but they did last 1 1/2 years.

Alarm works well, it has a lot included for the price. Setting up will take some time and detailed work, but they do have an excellent customer support center. The reason I cant give it 5 Stars is the indoor camera video quality. The viewing angle is standard, day-time video color resolution is good, when a room is dark, the night-vision resolution is not too great by itself in large areas. I hope they will offer improved indoor cameras in the near future.

I was an alarm technician and worked in the industry for 18 years. I've installed, programmed and services various systems through out my career. I had called to speak with tech support to see if an external contact could be wired to one of the door sensors and found that the "Tech Support Dept." was not very knowledgeable. They didn't know what an "external contact" was. I tried to explain it, and ended up emailing a Data sheet on the contact I wanted to use. I also was told that the maximum range that a sensor could be from the main controller was on 18 feet. There was no way I could centralize the main controller so that every sensor would fit in the range. Then I was told that I could purchase extenders, but could only use (2).

For a company like American District Telegraph (ADT) who has been in the business since April 5, 1874, I was very disappointed with this system and it's limitations, without having to spend extra money to get it installed and working like information says.

I purchased this system to add a small bit of security to my home. Door/window sensors work great, setup was easy but a pain because my activation code in the box was not the correct one. App is clunky but functional. It tells you to use the app to do most everything but I had to use my laptop to see the advanced settings for sensors.
Now for the kicker. Attempted to connect the camera and was promoted that I needed to change my SSID because I have an & symbol in my SSID... ???, in 2020? Called tech support as did my wife because I was out of town on business and the young lady I talked too attempted to force enter the password from the backend but was unsuccessful. Wife was told she needed to change the ssid and to contact our internet provider because there were no markings on my router identifying whether or not it was 2G or 5G because the camera only works on 2G. My router is compatible with both.
I decided to call one more time, I should have just boxed it up and returned the system. I was told the system is setup before it is shipped and I needed to call my isp and have them ping my camera and that would connect it to my hub forever and it would be fine. Also have them open some ports. The camera works hardwired but will not connect to my wireless so no to calling to have my isp open ports, major security risk by the way! ADT could have pinged my camera if that was the resolve, or I could have pinged it myself.
The issue is not with my isp, the issue is this camera will not connect to my WiFi network because I have a special character in my ssid.... so the camera only works hard wired. If you are looking for a wireless camera and use a special character in your ssid then avoid this system. I’ll see how well it works and I’ll just buy a camera system to monitor my property.

I use this security system unmonitored. I will be looking into paying for monitoring when I can afford it, but it works just fine without. I reliably get notifications on my phone when the cat sets off the camera's motion sensor. Pretty simple to get everything connected to wifi. I've only used it for a couple of weeks, but so far it runs great and does the job. Some of the installation can be confusing. For example, there are some instances where the physical booklet and the app say different things in regards to the order of installing devices. Or the app tells me to "follow the instructions provided with the system" (or something to that effect) and there are no instructions in the set up manual itself. So I have to google how to do it, sometimes having to deal with the instructions from older models. You could also call customer support for help, and they are very helpful! I did figure it all out eventually, except for the water/temperature sensors. They are "Honeywell" brand, NOT LifeShield, and their directions are very complicated. I have yet to install these sensors because it seems overwhelming. Many small pieces to put together, and many different modes to put the sensors in. It is good these sensors can do so many different things, but it seems difficult to set up, especially because there is less easy LifeShield explanation (the LONG directions are printed on one sheet of paper in tiny print). Overall I love this system and would recommend it to anyone who is at least a little tech savvy!
